A suspect is in custody in connection with at least two incidents in Escondido in which a man tried to lure young women into his car.
Police have scheduled a news conference later this afternoon to release details.
Monday, a young girl said she was picking up her mom's car in the parking lot of Del Taco on El Norte Parkway when a man in a red Mazda Miata convertible blocked her path to ask directions. He offered to give her a ride and when she took her phone out to take a photo of him, he peeled off. She immediately reported it to police.
Last week, a young girl walking near Mission Middle School was approached by a similar man also asking for directions.
