Starting next month, sailors have to leave their electronic cigarettes on the shore. The U.S. Navy has banned all e-cigarettes and vaping decives throughout the fleet. The ban comes after concerns about the batter-powered gadgets exploding and injuring users. According to the Navy, at least two sailors have had their e-cigarettes blow up in their mouths.
The policy goes into effect May 14, but sailors at sea can request extensions. The Navy says it will make a final determination on e-cigarettes after more analysis. Vaping will still be allowed on land in designated areas.
