WATCH: Star Wars Day Without a Princess

May the 4th has become known in recent years as Star Wars Day.

The play on words with the date began as just a day for fans to have some fun and honor their love for the Star Wars movies.

But today’s May the 4th Star Wars Day is the first one being celebrated since the death of actress Carrie Fisher…Princess Leia.

So on Facebook or Snapchat or even at work or school you may see someone, or a few someone’s, dressed in white with their hair in buns. Or maybe some dressed as Luke, or Hans, or Chewbacca or R-2 D-2 or other characters from the films that George Lucas began back in the late 1970’s.

And of course on every May the 4th now, the Star Wars marketing is everywhere.

Cable channels are showing all of the Star Wars movies, yes, every one of them, in succession all day long.

Toys R Us stores and other retailers are holding special Star Wars events and of course, special sales.

There are restaurants and bars with specials based on the alien tavern scenes from Star Wars.

And with the next Star Wars film coming out late this year, Disney which owns the Force now, has its own way of celebrating Star Wars Day like only Disney can.

If your kids grew up when the first Star Wars films came out, you may remember watching those VHS tapes of them over and over.

For those who have grown up on Star Wars, it may seem like a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, but on a day like today, when we recall the classic story of the battle between good and evil, may the force and the 4th be with you.
