A high speed chase ended with two people dead in Escondido. Police say it began around midnight Wednesday when they attempted to pull over a car for having a tail light out and running a red light. That's when the car fled the scene, leading police on a brief chase with speeds of 85-90 mph.
The car smashed into parked cars before crashing into a tree on Grand Avenue near Ash Street. The car flipped onto its side, and police say a man was ejected, and died at the scene. A woman in the car also died. Two passengers were taken to the hospital. Police are still investigating the crash.
