An Escondido woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs in a deadly Valley Center crash. The CHP says the 27-year-old was driving a pickup truck on Lilac Road Tuesday afternoon around 1:00p.m., when she crossed the center line and plowed head-on into an oncoming car.
An 83-year-old man from Valley Center and an 81-year-old woman from Oceanside were killed instantly. The pickup driver was taken to the hospital with major injuries and was arrested for DUI.
The crash shut down Lilac Road for about six hours while crews were on scene. The pickup truck was hauling pool cleaning supplies, and a Hazmat team was called to clean. No names have been released, and the investigation into the crash continues.
