Mayor Kevin Faulconer Says He Will Not Run for Governor

On the same day that he announced an extension of the current contract with Comic-Con that ensures the city's largest convention will remain in San Diego through 2021, Mayor Kevin Faulconer also announced that he will serve out his term as mayor through 2020 and not run for Governor in the 2018 election.

The mayor was re-elected to a full four year term in 2016 after becoming mayor in 2014 when he won a special election following the resignation of Bob Filner.
