It is official. Comic-Con will stay in San Diego through 2021, despite uncertainty over plans to expand the Convention Center. Mayor Kevin Faulconer, Comic-Con officials and local tourism officials made the announcement outside the San Diego Convention Center during a news conference that was broadcast live on Newsradio 600 KOGO.
Negotiations have been underway to extend the contract with Comic-Con. The event is the city's largest annual convention with the pop culture event bringing millions of dollars to the local economy and serving as a big boost for San Diego tourism.
