The storied Hotel Del Coronado will soon become a Hilton hotel, joining the huge hospitality company’s smaller Curio Collection of more unique, upscale properties around the world. While some people are worried that the historic hotel could lose its identity, the company says the name will stay the same, and the only thing changing is management.
On their website, Hilton says the Hotel Del has had an iconic presence since 1888, combining Victorian architecture, modern luxuries and beachfront recreation.
The change is expected July 19. Hilton runs three Curio Collection hotels in California, with just one current hotel in San Diego, The Hotel La Jolla.
