San Diego Readies for Comic-Con 2017

Preparations are underway in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter for the 48th annual Comic-Con, the city's largest convention event.

Banners are being hung and construction projects are underway as thousands of people are preparing to descend upon the city. Fans of the event, which kicks off with a preview Wednesday night will experience all things related to comics, film, television, pop culture and more.

The show, which runs through Sunday, is sold out as usual but, there are a number of related events plus great people watching throughout the downtown area, including celebrity spotting. Some of Hollywood's biggest stars come to town each year to participate in promotional events for their films.

San Diego's Mayor Kevin Faulconer says Comic-Con should generate about 130-million dollars in revenue.
