From camouflage to business suits... It’s a challenging transition for any service member, but for women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, entering the civilian workforce is even more difficult.
Women veterans face unemployment rates that are generally higher than the average population, many struggle to find affordable childcare and then they face the dreaded wardrobe challenge. They are suddenly forced to replace their military uniforms with entirely new civilian clothing, an expense most cannot afford.
Operation Dress Code helps women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces transition to the civilian workforce by providing them with the professional attire needed to start their new life.
October 4 - 23, 2017, donations of gently used professional clothing, shoes and accessories for women of all sizes are being collected at the locations listed below to support Operation Dress Code. A list of drop-off locations is listed below.
What happens with the donations. A special Dress Code Boutique Day will be offered to over 500 area service women, where they will enjoy a personalized shopping experience that allows them to make selections from the clothing, shoes and accessories donated. They will also get career advice, assistance with their resumes and other skills to empower them to pursue civilian jobs with the confidence they deserve and respect they’ve earned.
On November 4, collected donations will be distributed to women veterans at the Dress Code Boutique, where they will receive a free and personalized shopping experience.
