Fire Forces Dozens Out Of Their Lakeside Apartment

Dozens of people were evacuated early Tuesday morning from a Lakeside apartment complex after a fire broke out in the two-story building. It started around 3:20a.m. at the building on Lakeshore Drive.

The fire sent people running from the 10-unit complex. No one was seriously injured, but at least for people, including two children, were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. Crews were able to put out the fire quickly, but at least two of the apartments were destroyed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Some neighbors say it may have started when a kerosene lamp fell over inside one of the units, but that hasn't been confirmed by investigators. No one will be allowed in the building until the investigation is complete, and the Red Cross is assisting the people living there.
