Momentum For Suicide Barriers On Coronado Bridge

Coronado Bridge

More than 400 people have committed suicide along the Coronado Bridge since it opened, and now, CalTrans has developed more than a dozen potential suicide barriers for the Coronado Bridge, including fences, plexiglass panels and nets.  They began working on the project in August, and are now asking for public comment through the end of March before a final report is presented next spring.  And in an interview with KOGO News, Marcelo Peinado, the Chief of Traffic Operations in San Diego for CalTrans, says they are building momentum toward a permanent solution to the issue.
