As the Padres swing into their opening weekend, Friar's fans can celebrate the start of the season with a special block party in the East Village.
The East Village Association will host its 8th annual opening weekend block party on March 30 and March 31. The party on J street, between 6th and 10th, is free to everyone and runs from 2p.m. to 10p.m. Friday and noon to 6:30p.m. Saturday.
The all-ages event features food and drink vendors lining the streets of the East Village, plus an interactive game zone and live music. The padres take on the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday in their home opener.
