The transportation think tank Circulate San Diego is calling for the Metropolitan Transit System to turn nearly 60 acres of vacant land and unused parking lots into 8,000 affordable housing units.
The nonprofit group released a report called Real Opportunity, and their Executive Director, Colin Parent, gave KOGO News a rundown of the proposal.
Rob Schupp with MTS says they actually agree with Circulate San Diego, and are in the process of selling some of their land and turning it into housing units. Schupp also spoke with KOGO News, following the release of the plan.
