This month alone, some 65,000 Americans will experience a stroke with many unaware they were even at risk.Learn the symptoms, because, the key is getting to the emergency room quickly.

Less than a third will arrive in the emergency room within three hours, the optimal time period for better outcomes. 

May is National Stroke Awareness month to help Americans better understand the risk factors and lifestyle changes that can help prevent a stroke.

A stroke program nurse manager at Sharp, Chris Sundby, will leads a free stroke prevention class at 6 pm on Tuesday, May 22, at the North University Community Library.

Remember FAST if you think someone might be having a stroke:

  • Face drooping
  • Arm weakness
  • Speech difficulty
  • Time to call 9-1-1
