Police in Oceanside are still trying to figure out the circumstances surrounding the death of a 77-year-old man Tuesday. John Roth was found by his wife at their North Tremont Street home around 7a.m. when she returned home from her job at a nursing home.
Oceanside Police Officer Tom Bussey says Roth had suffered traumatic injuries to his upper body, and the death is considered suspicious. Roth was well known in the community, and several people gathered at a local bar Tuesday night to remember him.
Detectives with the OPD Crimes of Violence Unit are investigating the possible homicide. Anyone with information should call police at (760) 435-4748.
