A shooting suspect is still on the loose. San Diego County Sheriff's Department identified the man shot and killed in Lemon Grove last week. 21-year-old Christopher Truax Jr., an active duty U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant stationed at MCAS Miramar, was found inside of a parked car in the middle of Pacific Avenue just after midnight Friday.
A woman in the car told a deputy that Truax had been shot. Despite lifesaving efforts, Truax died at the scene. The woman in the car is not considered a suspect.
The Sheriff's Department is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Anyone with information can call the sheriff's homicide unit at (858) 565-5200. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (858) 285-6330.
