A contractor was struck and killed by a car Monday in Emerald Hills while he was in the area surveying property.
Police say the 73-year-old man was crossing the street in the 5300 block of Geneva Avenue when the eastbound vehicle hit him shortly before 7:30 a.m. The car then veered to the right and crashed into a parked vehicle according to SDPD Sgt. Tim Underwood.
The victim died at the scene. Police said he was employed by a private engineering firm. His name was withheld pending family notification. The 25-year-old driver was cooperating with police but it was not immediately clear who was at fault for the accident.
