The rain continued to fall on crews working throughout the day Monday to make repairs on the Kearny Villa exit off Northbound Interstate 805 which was closed to traffic due to a sinkhole.
Caltrans closed the exit early Monday morning after a sinkhole measuring 10-by-20 feet opened in the roadway.
Officials say a concrete culvert pipe broke under pressure from rain and mud from the storm that is moving through San Diego. Repairs must first be done to the pipe before the actual roadway is patched.
Caltrans is hoping to reopen the exit, which is used by many to access both Rady Children's Hospital and Sharp, by Tuesday morning.
