Red Flags To Sex Trafficking In San Diego Schools

San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan says thanks to a private public partnership, teachers will have the resources to teach kids how to spot human trafficking or sexual exploitation.

The goal is to get the awareness training into every public school in the county.

She tells KOGO News kids as young as 11 can be targeted on or near campus or through social media, but the average age for a victim is 16.

Stephan's announcement of the multi-million dollar project comes during National Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

FBI data shows San Diego ranks as one of the top 13 worst regions for human trafficking, and the underground economy is more than 800 million dollars a year in San Diego.

You can listen to our short interview below, which includes red flags for parents to share with children.
