Gov. Newsom To Pull California Troops From The Border

California's governor is going to pull back hundreds of his state's National Guard troops now assigned to the border with Mexico. In Governor Gavin Newsom's State of the State address Tuesday, he'll announce he's redeploying the 360 guard members so they'll be free to fight wildfires, collect intelligence on drug cartels, and expand California's Drug Task Force.

Newsom will say the state will not be part of what he calls the Trump administration's manufactured crisis. Former Governor Jerry Brown agreed to President Trump's request for National Guard troops but said California's Guard members would not be used to enforce immigration laws.
