Los Angeles Times food columnist Lucas Kwan Peterson wrote the "L.A. Times Fast Food French Fry Rankings" article and within hours of being published, a heated debate began about his list and the fact that Southern California's own In-N-Out Burger came in last place behind most other fast food chains.
Peterson calls his list "...the authoritative, totally not subjective, incontrovertibly definitive and 100% correct," and states that the ranking order is based on his experience at each of the food chains when ordering medium or regular size fries and rating them on: a) taste, and b) texture, which included fry shape and mouthfeel. Here the list and a link to his article:
- Five Guys
- McDonald's
- Del Taco
- Steak 'n Shake
- Arby's
- Carl's Jr.
- Dairy Queen
- Wendy's
- Shake Shack
- Burger King
- Chick Fil-A
- KFC
- Jack in the Box
- Popeye's
- Wienerschnitzel
- Jollibee
- Rally's
- Sonic
- In-N-Out
