Your mental health is as important as your heart health. It is ALL health!
I don't mind being honest and open about my struggles.
Number 1: I am not at all ashamed of my uneven mental health. My brain is how it is.
Number 2: If I am not ashamed of it, you shouldn't be, either.
We are built how we are built, and sometimes parts malfunction. If your knee malfunctions, you go to a doctor, and maybe rehab, to get it fixed and operating properly.
When your brain malfunctions, you should go to a doctor, get some meds, or maybe do some brain exercises to help you get it operating properly.
Sometimes the brain is misfiring from birth.
Sometimes, terrible or traumatic things happen and our brains are damaged or start misfiring.
None of these issues is anything to be ashamed of. I would know. And deep inside, you do, too. So have a real convo about mental health. Yours, or someone's that you love. There are lives to be saved.
