Wild Driver Hits Two On Ocean Beach Pier

Police are looking for the driver of a car who drove wildly on the Ocean Beach pier, hitting two people and a police vehicle. It happened around 1:30 Tuesday morning when a man was driving nearly 50-miles-an-hour on the pier. Police say he did a U-Turn on the pier and then drove recklessly into a 21-year-old man and 24-year-old woman. They both had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

An officer was in the area of the pier and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. However, the vehicle sped away and officers were unable to locate it. When the suspect fled the scene he sideswiped an unoccupied marked SDPD police vehicle. The officer was not injured.

The suspect driver was described as a Hispanic male, in his mid 20's. He had a beard, a heavy build and was wearing a white t-shirt. The vehicle was described as a black, 2005 Acura hatchback, with a lowered suspension. It had a cracked windshield and custom wheels. He was last seen driving on West Point Loma Boulevard. A partial license plate number was obtained, but police say further follow up will be conducted in the investigation in order to confirm the plate. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
