A baby is dead and his parents are in jail for his murder. A La Mesa couple was charged with murder, assault and child abuse after the death of their 7-month-old son. 28-year-old Joel Brownell and 30-year-old Jalena Rodriguez are accused in the death, according to court documents.
The couple was arrested on August 18, the day after their son was injured. A person who knew the couple told 10News the baby had knuckle marks on his forehead and went to the hospital with a swollen brain. The child also had a dislocated arm and leg, the source reported. The child was taken to Rady Children's Hospital where he died from his injuries.
