President Trump, speaking Friday afternoon, defended his order to launch an attack at the Baghdad airport in Iraq that killed a top Iranian military general.
Trump accused Iranian general Qassem Soleimani of planning “imminent and sinister attacks” Friday in his first remarks since the deadly airstrike that killed the general at Baghdad's international airport.

The Pentagon announced Friday that it was sending at least 3,000 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne FDivbision based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Earlier this week, within hours after Iranian-backed protesters stormed the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, Marines with the Camp Pendleton-based First Marine Expeditionary Force were on their way to Baghdad.
