Schools In California Will Not Reopen This Academic Year

Governor Newsom confirmed on Wednesday that schools in the state of California will remain closed through the end of this academic year, but cautioned that education will continue, "School is not out for the year, in fact, we’re asking everyone to accelerate everyone gets a great education,” Newsom said.

California's 6 million students will continue education through distance learning, which many schools and students have already adapted to via online communication with their teachers and actual online courses. California State Superintendent of Public Instruction admits that it will difficult for some students, teachers and families, but says that the state will be providing resources, webinars, and training.

In his announcement, Governor Newsom also said that the state has launched a partnership with Google, who will be providing thousands of access points to improve wifi/internet and free Chromebooks (for three months) to help with distance learning for kids statewide.
