What We're Learning About Each Other By Being Together

So after a few weeks now, how’s that working from home thing going? Having more quality time together? Learning more about each other?

A new survey of about 15-hundred people working from home because of the coronavirus orders found that almost half of them said they had little or no idea what their spouse or partner’s job involved.

The survey found that 46% of adults said that before having to work at home, what they knew about the other one’s work schedule was limited to “they work in an office” or “they have lots of meetings.”

But now having been forced to be together most of the time, only about 20-percent say still don’t know much about their loved one’s job.

And the survey found that among those who said now know a lot more, 40 percent say they’ve realized that the other person’s job is more demanding than they thought and 32% say they have discovered that their spouse or partner’s job is interesting. Although about 20% said the other’s job seems more boring.

And when it comes to knowing more about each other, the survey found that more than a third say they are more confident than ever before. That their spouse is very good at what they do…with about a quarter of them saying their loved one is more professional than they had thought and works harder than they thought.

Maybe when this is all over, we’ll find that while we may not want to spend all of our time together, we will find that by knowing more about each other, we will be better together.
