55 More Coronavirus Cases in San Diego County; No New Deaths

No new deaths from the COVID-19 virus were reported Sunday by San Diego County health officials.

The death toll from coronavirus stands grew to 71 on Saturday when one new death was reported. There were seven deaths reported on Friday, All but a couple of the people who have died from COVID-19 had underlying medical conditions and 61 of the 71 people who have died were in their 60s, 70's, 80's or 90's with at least two who were 100 years old. .

There were 55 new cases of coronavirus reported Sunday, the same number of new cases that were reported on Saturday. The total number of cases in San Diego County is now 2,268.

Dr. Wooten has commended county residents for following the stay at home and social distancing orders, saying a lot of progress has been made.but she urged everyone to continue doing what they are doing so we can get to where the numbers have to be to begin being able to ease some restrictions. As she put it, we are getting there but we're not there yet.

Dr. Wooten said, "We are not there yet but we are getting there." She warned that if people do not keep following guidelines this month, the number of cases that are still happening could begin to increase at a time when we have made significant progress,
