The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department has issued a statement after being called out to investigate a man wearing a face mask with a swastika on it while he and his wife were shopping..
It happened at the Food for Less grocery store in Santee on Thursday.
The man, identified by the Times of San Diego as 32-year-old Dustin Hart of Santee, uploaded a video of the incident on a body cam he was wearing.

In the video, the man says he was making a peaceful protest of Governor Newsom’s stay at home order due to the coronavirus pandemic. He was not arrested.
A statement released by the Sheriff’s Department said, “When deputies asked for the symbol to be removed, the man complied. Sheriff’s investigators will continue to look into the matter. The Sheriff’s Department does not condone hate or acts of intolerance. We are a county that is welcoming of people from all backgrounds.
