It’s here. It’s finally here. Election Day 2020. And a new survey suggests says that for most Americans it can’t come soon enough and can’t be done soon enough.
The survey examined the mental health of 2,000 adults, focusing on the stress caused by the pandemic and the presidential election.
Nearly six in 10 people said they can’t imagine being more stressed than they already are this year with two-thirds saying they want the year to be over now.
The results of the survey found that a majority of Americans, 55-percent, believe that their most stressful day of the year and some actually say of their entire lives will be today. The poll found that Millennials and Gen X’ers feel the most stressed out, about 60-percent of them, with only one third of Baby Boomers saying the they’re stressed out. Guess there is an advantage to getting older.results
But you have you to wonder if much of this stress will go away after Election Day, or after the winner is declared.
With the emotional and heated disagreements between both sides, which have already led to friends and even family members not talking to one another, the losing side may not feel much relief and the winning side could get stressed out worrying about what the other side will do.
Given all of this, we all need to heed the call from some faith leaders in San Diego this week who have called for peace after the election. There should be no disagreement that we all can use some of that.
