A fast-moving wildfire that erupted early Thursday morning near Camp Pendleton andforced mandatory evacuations is no longer a threat.
The #CreekFire on Camp Pendleton [Update] Creek Fire was last reported to have burned 4,276 acres and was at least 35% contained. All evacuees were cleared to go back to their homes Thursday night. Officials at the base say a ring had been built around the fire, containing & stopping it from reaching any housing areas.
Fire officials said the fire was first reported around midnight Wednesday night and moved along De Luz Road and grew within the first few hours from 50-acres to 3,000 acres due to strong gusty Santa Ana winds, forcing evacuations of an estimated 7,000 people. There were no reports of structures damage and no injuries...
