American Humane Says We've Abandoned Working Dogs, Too

American Humane wants Congress to rescue the dogs.

The dozens of contracted working dogs have been abandoned by the US in Afghanistan. The dogs worked alongside military dogs in the war-torn nation.

The animal welfare group has condemned what it called, the 'death sentence' for the animals, claiming they now face 'torture' at the hands of the Taliban.

American Humane says it has helped rescue stranded military animals for more than 100 years.

The dogs are left behind, along with at least 100 Americans, and military equipment worth billions.
