The biannual convention for gamers and esports professionals is returning to San Diego in 2022.

TwitchCon made the announcement on Wednesday, September 22. The next convention will be held in July 2022 in Amersterdam and in October 2022 in San Diego.

The San Diego Convention Center in downtown San Diego has previously hosted the convention in 2016 and 2019.

The event was supposed to be held in San Diego for the third time in 2020 but the pandemic forced them to cancel it. The 2021 convention was canceled as well.

Much like the popular ComicCon, TwitchCon features panels with well-known Twitch streams, meet and greet sessions, and live gaming tournaments.

According to NBC7, Twitch also uses the convention to announce future projects.

“With so many new creators, viewers, and moderators who have joined Twitch during this pandemic, many have not yet had the opportunity to meet the communities they’ve created or been welcomed into,” TwitchCon posted on its website. “This is why we’re especially excited to invite everyone to come celebrate, experience, and be a part of something so unique and special.”
