San Diego Group Calls for Immediate End to Mask Mandate

A San Diego group that has been fighting the mask mandate in California are calling on state officials to end the public health orders immediately.

The message from a group call Public Sq came one day after Gov. Gavin Newsom, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and other California leaders faced criticism after they were photographed Sunday without wearing their ace masks at the SoFi Stadium during the NFL Championship game.

California’s universal mask mandate requires residents to wear face masks in all indoor public spaces regardless of vaccine status. State public health officials in mid-January extended the mask mandate through Feb. 15 citing the surge in COVID-19 cases led by the Omicron variant.

On Monday, PublicSq CEO Michael Seifert sent a statement to KOGO News:

“California citizens have lost all trust in their elected officials that continually refuse to abide by their own edicts. We encourage everyone in the state of California to stop complying, show your smiles and put this season of tyranny behind us. We are grateful at PublicSq. to be creating a community of businesses and individuals that are prioritizing freedom over non- scientific regulations,” Michael Seifert CEO of PublicSq.

The statement went on to say, The message is clear from the political leaders in California, the emergency is over and the mask mandate should be removed immediately."
