Here's Where California Ranks On Worst States For Procrastinating On Taxes

Tax Day (April 18) is quickly approaching and if you still haven't filed your taxes, you're not the only one. IPX1031 set out to find where America's biggest procrastinators are when it comes to taxes. "We wanted to know which states have the biggest procrastinators in the U.S. in 2022. To find this, we analyzed data from last year’s tax season to measure Google searches for phrases like “what happens if I file my taxes late?”, “when is it too late to file taxes?”, and “can I file late taxes?” explained the website.

According to their findings, Californians are some of the biggest tax procrastinators! The state was ranked in the top 5 of the study with Arkansas, Georgia, Hawaii, and Nevada ranking above them. These are the top 10 states with the biggest tax procrastinators:

  1. Nevada
  2. Hawaii
  3. Georgia
  4. Alaska
  5. California
  6. Maryland
  7. Colorado
  8. Oregon
  9. Delaware
  10. Washington

According to IPX1031, California was also ranked fifth in last year's study as well. Some of the states with the lowest amount of procrastinators included Iowa (No. 50), Wisconsin (No. 49), and Michigan (No. 48).
