Pilot in Fatal Plane Crash at Montgomery Field Identified

The County Medical Examiner has released the name of the pilot and sole occupant of a small plane that crashed Saturday at San Diego's Montgomery Field.

The pilot is identified as Andre Roosevelt Green, who was 46 years old. 

Fire and rescue personnel rushed to the scene about 12 p.m. after the plane went down at the edge of the Kearny Mesa airport. The San Diego Union Tribune reported that air traffic controllers called 911 after the plane went down in the northwest corner of the field Fire crews arrived from the station across the street in minutes and found the pilot was trapped according to a San Diego Fire Rescue captain who said that the man had to be extricated from the plane and was rushed to a hospital in critical condition where he later died.

There was no immediate word of what caused the crash. The crash will be investigated by federal aviation and safety officials.
