The average price of a gallon of regular gasoline in San Diego County Friday topped $5 for the first time since Nov. 29, 2022 increasing 2 cents to $5.015.
The average price has increased for four straight going up by 6.6 cents, including 1.2 cents Thursday, after dropping 1.3 cents over the previous seven days, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price InformationService.
The average price is 6.5 cents more than one week ago and 14 cents higher than one month ago but 60.7 cents less than one year ago. The all time record was $6.373 on Oct. 5th of last year.
``Gas prices are up around the country as oil prices have risen to their highest levels since April,'' said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
The national average price has gone up to $3.732. rising 16.9 cents over the past 10 days, but is still well below the average price in San Diego County.
