The National Weather Service says San Diego's coastline are seeing 6-12 feet with some sets as high as 15 feet expected through late Sunday night.
A High Surf Warning and a Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect until 2 a.m. Monday, January 1st. Lifeguards urge you to stay off the beach and stay behind sea walls and boardwalks with the waves expected to wash over some of the beaches.

Authorities say eight people were injured in Ventura due to rogue wave.

The Ventura County Fire Department was called to the scene of the wave shortly before 11 a.m. Thursday. "It ended up being a total of eight patients due to surf that came over the wall and flooded the streets," Ventura County Fire Capt. Brian McGrath said.

* WHEN...Through 2 AM PST Monday. Highest surf will be Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only
isolated road closures expected. Breaking waves can sweep
people off jetties and docks, and into dangerous seas. Life-
threatening swimming conditions and significant beach erosion
can be expected.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Locations most susceptible to flooding
include Cardiff and Seaside State Beaches, portions of Del
Mar, La Jolla Shores, Mission Beach, and Imperial Beach.
