Simone Biles and the USA Women's Gymnastics Team's gold medal victory headlined Day 4 of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday (July 30).

Biles, the most decorated American gymnast in history, clinched the Americans' victory as the final participant in the floor routine with a competition-best 14.666 score, propelling Team USA to a total score of 171.296, followed by Italy (-5.802) and Brazil (-6.799). The 27-year-old won her eighth Olympic medal, which broke a tie with Shannon Miller for the most by an American gymnast, and extended her American record for most gold medals won to five.

Biles and teammate Jordan Chiles participated in all four events while Suni Lee excelled on bars, beam and floor and Jade Carey had a strong performance on vault. The team victory marks the beginning of Biles' Olympic redemption tour in Paris after she withdrew from most of the competition at the pandemic-delayed 2020 Tokyo Games due to "the twisties," a temporary loss of air awareness suffered by gymnasts while performing twisting elements.

The USA Women's Rugby Sevens team medaled for the first time in Olympic history, defeating Australia, 14-12, in the bronze medal game on Tuesday.

The Americans were training 12-7 before Alex 'Spiff' Sedrick broke away from a scrum deep in her own territory and scored on a try for five points as time expired, followed by a successful two-point conversion kick.

The victory not only marked the first time that the USA Women's Rugby Sevens team medaled in Olympic play, but also the first for the U.S. since the men won gold at the 1924 Paris Games 100 years prior.

Other notable results from Day 4 of the 2024 Paris Olympics are included below:

  • Women's Tennis (Singles): Donna Vekić defeated Coco Gauff (USA), 7-6 (7), 6-1
  • Men's Soccer: USMNT defeats Guinea to advance to the knockout stage for the first time since the 2000 Sydney Games
  • Swimming: Katie Ledecky wins 1500-meter freestyle semifinals by nearly 20 seconds

Team USA currently leads all nations with 26 total medals, which includes four gold, trailing only Japan (7), China (6), Australia (6), France (5) and South Korea (5), four days into the Paris Games.
