A window washer was rescued on Monday (July 29) after his equipment jammed, leaving him dangling 450 feet above ground. Jared Cooper was washing the windows on the 35-story RSA Battle House Tower in Mobile, Alabama, when he got stuck just below the 33rd floor.

Once he realized his equipment was jammed, he called 911 for help and then called his mother to let her know what had happened.

"He calls me a lot from work, and he said, 'Hey, mom, I'm stuck here on the ledge, and I'm just hanging out here, you know, waiting until to see if will be able to get me down,'" Cooper's mom, Charlotte Hopkins, told WKRG.

Multiple firefighters were dispatched to the building and set up a rope system on the roof. A firefighter was then lowered down to Cooper and attached his harness to the fire department's rope and pulley system. Cooper was then pulled up and climbed through an open window to safety.

"It worked like clockwork, it was beautiful," District 1 Chief Brandon Jackson said. "Everybody walked away and went home safely."

Cooper wasn't phased after getting stuck and said he planned to go to work on Tuesday.

"Jared has always been kind of a daredevil, and he always is," Hopkins said. "It's a high-risk job. He's like, sign me up."
