Cal Fire officials said the Border 2 Fire that broke out in the Otay Mountain wilderness area last week was at least contained as of early Monday morning.
The fire, which erupted on the afternoon of Jan. 23, has burned 6,625 acres.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office says all evacuation warnings have been lifted, and adjustments have been made to evacuation orders in the area around the Border 2 Fire in Otay Mesa that included lots of areas on the eastern side of Chula Vista in Eastlake neighborhoods.
One resident of Eastlake told reporting partner 10News, "We can't underestimate how valuable and how thankful we are to have the firefighters, you know? Not only here locally, but from other areas coming in to help fight these fires, it's very appreciated and amazing to watch them doing their work."
