The San Diego Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting outside a Kearny Mesa hookah lounge in a strip mall early Friday morning. A man died and a woman was injured.
Officers responded to the 8000 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, which is just east of the Convoy Street intersection, at around 4:40 a.m. SDPD say the person who died was a Hispanic man, and the injured woman was Black. Officers did not have approximate ages for the victims.
The suspect fled the scene, so no one was in custody as of Friday morning.
Police say a large event was occurring near the scene, and the suspect was somehow connected to it.
