The Airport That Has Come a Long Way

Having just dropped off a friend at San Diego International, it was easy to see why the news this past week about the new roadway that takes you directly to terminals without stop lights and without having to sit in crowded Harbor Drive traffic is welcome news.

And now the word from Southwest Airlines that it is going to be expanding service to and from San Diego is more welcome news.

The popular airline says that with the opening of the first phase of the new Terminal One, with more gates and a lot more space, Southwest will be adding flights and evening restoring some previous destinations in the coming months.

It’s all good news for the airport that used to be known as Lindbergh Field, and in desperate need of modernization.

There were several times over the decades, when there was a lot of talk about building an all new airport, with ideas ranging from building it out in the desert to building a floating one off the coast.

All those ideas are in the past and fortunately, the way San Diego International Airport has advanced and is still growing, we should be flying high about the future.
