The federal government shutdown is now almost a month old. And the start of the holiday season is now just a month away.
And millions of Americans are likely feeling nervous and worried, especially those who live paycheck to paycheck and a lot do.
According to the Bipartisan Policy Center, 670,000 federal employees are furloughed, about 730,00 are working without pay.
October 31st could be the first time in history that members of all military branches will miss a paycheck due to a government shutdown.
Service members and their families along with other Americans who need help from food banks or government food assistance are certainly worried.
Meantime, lots of voters, are asking both parties to do something we all have to do from time to time in our lives, called “compromise:
In case the politicians have forgotten what that means, here’s the definition.
“An agreement where each person gives up something they want in order to reach a settlement of their differences through mutual concessions, where both parties adjust their demands to reach a middle ground.”
Maybe it’s time for our political leaders to take a look at a dictionary and then get to work.
