Words to Think About for These Politically Divided Times

This week’s elections in California, Virginia, New Jersey and New York City were the first round in the expected battles ahead.

Next year’s mid term elections a year from now in November 26, the primaries in early 2028 and then the presidential election in November of that year.

And during these next three years, there is sure to be just as much political fighting, and maybe even more, with the country very divided, over politics, beliefs, attitudes and emotions.

We argue with each other on the radio talk shows, the cable news channels, among co-workers, friends and sometimes, sadly, even family.

The standoff over the federal government shutdown continues because neither side will budge, neither side will compromise, and so it goes, on and on.

Nasty things are said and feelings can even be hurt.

But maybe some words from a book called the Bible may offer a way out.

The words? “If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all people.”  Another translation puts it this way. “Do your best to live at peace with everyone.”

Words to think, and remember, for the times we are in.
