Amazon Opening Massive Facility In San Diego, Adding 1,500 New Jobs

One of the largest buildings ever constructed in San Diego County, will open as a new Amazon distribution facility this June. The building is 3.4 million square feet large, and located in Otay Mesa. While Amazon has not officially confirmed ownership of the building, grant deeds found by a research firm verify that Amazon is indeed paying for the construction. In addition, the company constructing the facility is the same builder Amazon uses nationwide.
It's estimated that this new Amazon facility will bring 1,500 new jobs to the region. The San Diego Union Tribune reports that job listings for similar Amazon facilities have starting wages of $15 an hour with health benefits.
