Skrewball Whiskey company, which opened on July 20, 2018 in Ocean Beach, has gained popularity with bloggers, vloggers, and TV shows for its one-of-a-kind Peanut Butter Whiskey. Over the past year the Skrewball team has worked tirelessly to manufacture this unique whiskey and get distributed nationwide. Their efforts certainly helped put this San Diego-based distillery on the map, but a recent shout-out from Foo Fighter frontman Dave Grohl has taken Skrewball Whiskey to a whole new level.
During the Foo Fighter's San Diego concert at Petco Park, in mid-June Grohl made an unsolicited announcement, "I gotta give a shout-out to my new favorite whiskey company," Grohl said. "I just discovered it a few weeks ago. It's here in San Diego. It's peanut butter whiskey. Do you know about the peanut butter whiskey? You will."
Now the country (and even some unaware San Diegans) are clambering to get their hands on this delicious treat. A Skrewball employee was asked if Dave Grohl was an investor in the company and he said "No, nothing." He said that employees just started seeing video clips of Grohl on social media and were blown away by the response.
Skrewball has a great product AND a great story to tell. They describe themselves as "Black Sheep," and their website explains:
Born in Ocean Beach, California, Skrewball’s story is just as unique as the contents of the bottle. Skrewball started from the passion of a bartender and foodie who owned a local watering hole. His bar and restaurant is known for its band of misfits, black sheep and Skrewballs that have always encouraged the community to join the nightly party—but more importantly, were always there to support the community when anyone needed a helping hand.
When he first combined his favorite classics—peanut butter and whiskey—to create the most delicious shot, many snubbed their nose at this idea. But, it didn’t take long before it became their signature shot. He teamed up with his wife to create Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey—and to their surprise, ended up creating something even better than the original shot. Of course, the team wouldn’t be complete without the rest of the band of Skrewballs joining them to share Skrewball with the world. So, join us. Grab a glass and release your inner black sheep!
If you can get your hands on some Peanut Butter Whiskey, we recommend you sit back and listen to the Foo Fighter on iHeartRadio.
