Reopening Dates & Details for All San Diego, SoCal Attractions and Parks

Here is what you need to know about the reopening of San Diego and Southern California's major attractions and parks.

Balboa Park

Belmont Park

OPENING: Now Open / April 1, 2021

The park is open for limited dining and certain activities but San Diego’s beachfront amusement park will reopen its rides to the public starting April 1, 2021.

Disneyland Resort

OPENING: April 30, 2021

To enter a park, both park reservation and valid admission for the same park on the same date are required for Guests age 3 and up. Reservations are limited. Until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks in line with current state guidelines.

Upon reopening, certain parks, hotels, restaurants, attractions, experiences and other offerings will be modified or unavailable, will have limited capacity and will be subject to limited availability or even closure, and park admission and offerings are not guaranteed. 

The Downtown Disney District is open with select retail and dining locations. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will plan to reopen on April 29, 2021. The Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel remain closed and will reopen at a later date.

Knott’s Berry Farm

OPENING: TBD

California’s original theme park has not officially announced the date that they will reopen, but it is believed that it will closely follow their annual Boysenberry Festival which is happening daily (now through April 11, 2021) and Friday – Sunday, April 16 – May 2, 2021. In a March 12 statement, John Storbeck, the park's VP and General Manager said, "As we look forward to reopening our gates, we still have some work to do. From hiring and training new associates to working with Government officials on finalizing guidelines, we will work hard to ensure that we can reopen our park safely for all to enjoy. Our plan is to welcome you back to Knott’s Berry Farm this May."

The Knott’s Berry Farm California Marketplace and Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant are open for business.

Petco Park – San Diego Padres

OPENING: April 1, 2021

San Diegans will be able watch the Padres play throughout the season.Capacity will vary depending on current state guidelines.

San Diego Zoo and Safari Park

OPENING: Now Open

Visit us to experience wildlife with your family, stroll among diverse habitats, and take part in fun, educational activities that bring us closer to the natural world.

As outdoor destinations, in following the guidance set forth from the Governor's Office, both the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park are open. In order to keep our community safe during this time, and in anticipation of high demand, all visitors ages 3 and up will require an advance ticket or member reservation to visit.

Upon arrival, please have your advance ticket, or membership card and reservation, ready prior to entering. Expect wait times during busy peak periods. No same-day re-entry permitted.

SeaWorld San Diego

OPENING: Now Open

Guests can stroll through over 100 acres of beautiful outdoor grounds filled with lively animal exhibits including orcas, belugas, otters, walruses, sharks, sea turtles, bat rays, sea lions, pilot whales, penguins, dolphins, flamingos, eels, tropical birds and more. Rides and shows are currently not available, but the park is conducting a Seven Seas Food Festival now through May 2 that allows guests to savor over 125+ unique flavors during San Diego's Biggest and Boldest Culinary Adventure. Six Flags Magic Mountain

OPENING: April 1, 2021

ALL VISITORS (INCLUDING PASS HOLDERS AND MEMBERS) WILL NEED TO MAKE ADVANCE RESERVATIONS PRIOR TO VISIT. Universal Studios Hollywood

OPENING: TBD

On March 19, Universal City Walk and Universal Cinema reopened on a limited basis. The park is not open for normal operations but on select dates, visitors can attend the Taste of Universal, an all-new separately ticketed, limited-time event that serves up a day of shopping and outdoor dining throughout the Upper Lot of Universal Studios Hollywood. Savor the flavors of exceptional food from the restaurants of some of your favorite lands.

USS Midway Museum

OPENING: Now Open

Tickets are available for purchase online only at this time. When purchasing tickets you will choose a date and time for your museum visit. This will allow us to manage the number of guests on board to assist with physical distancing requirements. Please arrive at your chosen date and time with your tickets, and review all information in your email confirmation.Guests are required to wear face coverings while onboard.
