How to Get a Stress Free Vaccination Shot

More vaccine doses arriving and more vaccination stations opening. The good news this week from San Diego County leaders.

And in Washington, the new President announcing a new federal plan to give shots to 100 million people in 100 days. All good news as we are still in the middle of the worst time of the coronavirus crisis almost one year now since the start of the pandemic.

Of course, we are still probably six months away from returning to the beginning of normal, and still facing restrictions on where we can go and what we can do.

But before you start stressing out any more than you may already be, consider a new study that found that stress, along with anxiety and depression can make the vaccines less powerful and may weaken the effectiveness of the vaccination.

The study points to decades of evidence showing emotional stressors inhibit the body’s immune system. But the researchers say there are things you can do to reduce the effects of mental and emotional health stress on the effectiveness of the vaccine. And they don’t violate any public health orders.

They suggest exercising and getting some full night rests before getting the shot.

The challenge is not letting the worry and the efforts to reduce our stress, stress us out even more.

None of us is immune from stress, but once we’re vaccinated, we will worry less about getting infected. And that means the more people who get the shot, the less stress there will be for all of us.
